American Ethnologist is an active peer-reviewed academic journal covering areas such as ecology, economy, social organization, ethnicity, politics, and ideology. It was established in 1974 and is published quarterly by Wiley-Blackwell Publishing, Inc.
The journal publishes original research articles, ethnographic reports, theoretical discussions, and book reviews covering a wide range of topics, including cultural anthropology, social anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and ethnographic research. It also features regular sections which present firsthand accounts of anthropological fieldwork, and explore critical issues and debates within a variety of disciplines.
